Low carbon transport technologies
STS offer support in the development of energy and climate change strategies, specifically looking at transport energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and measures to reduce them. We are active in the assessment of low carbon technologies over the full range of road transport applications with regard to lifecycle costs, operational issues, performance and emissions. These low carbon vehicle technologies include:
- Flexi-fuel
- Hybrid-electric
- Battery-electric
|
- Fuel cell
- Stop-start
- High-efficiency transmission
|
STS also has extensive experience in assessing the benefits of low carbon fuels including lifecycle costs, renewable resources, vehicle system requirements, refuelling infrastructure, safety and emissions. These low carbon vehicle fuels include:
- Biobutanol
- Bioethanol
- Biodiesel
- Biomethane
|
- Dimethyl ether (DME)
- Electricity
- Hydrogen
|
Recent experience includes work on low carbon buses for the Low CVP and work for the "National Society of Clean Air" (NSCA), "CENtre of EXcellence for low carbon and fuel technologies" (CENEX) and Department for Transport (DfT) on the application of and potential for biomethane as a road transport fuel.
