STS to 'footprint' Islington's transport carbon emissions
STS has been commissioned by the London Borough of Islington to produce a carbon footprint of their transport operations. The study will seek to quantify all the council's transport carbon emissions including emissions from the council's own fleet and contracted out fleets as well as emissions due to employees travelling for business and to and form work.
In addition to quantifying vehicle tailpipe emissions STS will also quantify emissions associated with the production and distribution of the fuel used. This will enable the council to make more robust comparisons between alternative vehicle fuels such as diesel, biodiesel and electricity.
STS will also be producing a user friendly spreadsheet tool. This will be used by Islington to repeat the carbon footprint exercise in future years to help them evaluate the impact of their transport carbon reduction measures.
